Iperal Optimises Costs and Shopper Experience with Zebra Technologies Self-Scanners

Italian retailer responds to customer demand for improved convenience with PS20 fleet

BOURNE END, England – 16 July, 2024Zebra Technologies Corporation (NASDAQ: ZBRA) a leading digital solution provider enabling businesses to intelligently connect data, assets, and people, today announced it has helped growing Italian supermarket and hypermarket chain Iperal Supermercati S.p.a. meet its customers’ demand for in-store, self-scan mobile devices, resulting in drastic improvements in customer satisfaction and cost optimisation.

Iperal wanted a technology solution to further elevate its status as a provider of shopping experiences that put customers first, tackles resource challenges during rush hours, and improves store operations and overall customer satisfaction. “It became clear to us that more of our customers wanted the ability to self-scan during their shopping experience,” said Vettore. “We wanted to be the benchmark for a customer-centric self-scanning service.”

With a recommendation from Zebra Premier Solution Partner, BarWare, Iperal selected Zebra’s PS20 Personal Shopper Series terminals and CC6000 Customer Concierge interactive kiosks. The devices are remotely monitored and managed with Zebra’s VisibilityIQ™ Foresight solution for constant control of the device fleet.

When customers first use the PS20, they are asked to register on the interactive kiosk and scan their Iperal card on the CC6000 to unlock their personal shopper device, which they then use to scan items that they place straight into their bags as they shop.

Almost 40% of Iperal shops now offer scan as you shop options, and Vettore’s team is looking to add five more locations to its roster.
