| Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) is a European Community directive that became European Law in February 2003 and took effect August 13, 2005. Its intent is to reduce the amount of electrical and electronic products that end up in the waste stream. The directive sets collection, recovery, and recycling targets for all types of electrical goods sold in the European Union. |

As of August 13, 2005, electrical equipment sold in Europe, including printers, must be disposed of in accordance with WEEE. According to the directive, only equipment purchased after this date must be recycled. Zebra has created a recycling scheme in Europe where Zebra-branded equipment marked with the underscored crossed wheelie bin symbol can be returned to the point of sale (or the point where new Zebra-branded equipment is being purchased) at its end of life. Zebra will then arrange for the equipment to be recycled.

| Zebra and its partner resellers have new responsibilities under this directive to collect, return and recycle equipment at its end of life. Zebra is committed to working with its partners to share responsibility and comply with the WEEE directive. Zebra has also begun marking all of its products sold in Europe to show they should not be treated as waste. |

| According to the directive, customers must be able to return any printers sold after August 13, 2005 to the point of sale at their end of life. If you choose to make use of Zebra’s program, Zebra will bear the recycling costs for equipment that is returned to its resellers. |

According to the directive, only new printers placed on the market after August 13, 2005 must be accepted at end of life by the producer for recycling. Additionally, after August 13, 2005, older printers must be accepted by the producer if they are being replaced by new printers on a like-for-like basis.
Zebra is accepting recycling responsibility for any Zebra-branded units marked with the crossed wheelie bin symbol, or equipment from other producers if it is being replaced with Zebra equipment on a like-for-like basis. |
